1. Racism implies to assign derogatory characteristics to individuals just because they are part of a group with recognizable racial characteristics.
The studies of the human genome have emptied the concept of race of any scientific validity, reducing it to be an object of sociologic study. Race lacks any content but as a social elaboration to deny individual character to a person. Thus, when domestic service and agriculture were excluded from Social Security originally, we can speak of racism because such measure intended to exclude an activity overwhelming employing colored people. Also, when especial restrictive immigration treatment is intended to be given to countries where most people is colored, we can also speak of racism, even though a clear overlap exists in this case with the concept of xenophobia. To be racist, you don’t have to explicitly speak of race.
If the ideas drafted above are clear, you can’t claim not to be a racist because you have black relatives or friends even if they are happy with the idea of you packing them as standard products with no individuality, all sharing the same derogatory characteristics. The definition of racist is not: person without black relatives or friends. On the other hand, negative opinions of countries from where immigrants come is not racist if you also acknowledge that immigrants coming from those countries are not just appendixes, objects that belong to those countries to whom those negative opinions automatically apply. If you acknowledge their human right to be judged by their own character, as individuals, you are not a racist. Also, using the word “shithole” to define those countries doesn’t make you a racist if you acknowledge that that characteristic doesn’t apply to an immigrant just because he happens to have been born there. On the contrary, if you say that a person should stay in its country of birth, of proud history and traditions, because we have already too many people from that country, you are a racist, no matter what kind of pretty words you use to hide your racism.
Said this, I must thank Trevor Noah for having made this clear last Monday while the idiots who have entrenched themselves as activists on this issue have not. As mentioned in other entries, even politicians on the pro-immigrant side repeat as true statements like “illegal immigrants are those who don’t pay taxes, don't speak English and have jumped "their place in the line"" even though none of these statements is true. For the overwhelming majority who have not been born in the right country or family, there is simply no way to come legally just by showing their good character and commitment with America. While pro-immigrant clowns permanently come with new ideas of showing themselves in cute and colorful ways, it's the xenophobic Right ideas which had dominated the debate and it’s their statements what have been positioned as true.
2. With respect to the Dream Act, it’s important to think clearly and give a rest to the walls made of cloth, the marches made of love and the DAPA dinners made of delicious dishes. The Dreamers are the most presentable face of the pro-immigrant movement (even if we discount the imbeciles who successfully have made the argument that Dreamers should not be punished by the terrible crimes committed by their parents, which consist of having come illegally). If you take the Dreamers out of the debate with a Clean Dream Act (Dream Act with path to citizenship only for Dreamers), you leave in a much worse spot those undocumented immigrants who are not Dreamers. An extension of DACA and of other protection status is needed but a Clean Dream Act simply will turn DACA on the ceiling of any immigration negotiation, not on the floor. It’s important to feel passion about this issue but you also have to think to not end up harming your own cause. What you have to get rid of though is all those idiots who believe this is about having fun or looking cool.
Now, if you don’t care about other immigrants but the Dreamers, at least acknowledge that. But if you just want to believe that somehow the other undocumented immigrants will have a fair chance anyway, you are not too different from those who voted for Crazy Stein on the infantile premise that she would jump from 2% to 50% and we would not end up with this monster as president. I have done my part but if you are an adult and you acknowledge that the mentally adult have to engage in an alternative kind of activism, at least do something to prevent what those idiots are trying to do.
This monster is going to need to please his base to defend him against Muller and his base only wants one thing: the tears and corpses of Muslims and immigrants. There is no room for naivety or idiocy.
